UCAID The Center has undertake a wide-spectrum of cooperative projects with the University Consortium for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID), a university consortium of 125 members devoted to accelerating Internet technology development and implementation. Concerned about the ability of the existing Internet to meet the research and instructional needs of higher education, these universities have joined to develop recommendations for the next generation Internet architecture, security, services and applications. Northwestern University is a founding member of the UCAID consortium. The President of Northwestern is a member of the Board of Trustees of UCAID. The Center work jointly on Internet2 projects and on projects related to Abilene, a joint project among UCAID, Cisco and Qwest to crate a national OC-48 network, to which the Center will be linked at OC-3c via MREN. The Abilene NOC will be run by an MREN member, Indiana University. http://www.ucaid.edu
